Community Micro-Enterprise Project

We’re extremely proud of our Wellbeing Team who work in partnership with our residents at Elis David Almshouses, to support them to live independently and with dignity.
We want to extend that support to people who are living in their own homes across Croydon.
To best deliver the support we are jointly funding, and working in partnership with Croydon Council to deliver the Community Micro-Enterprise Project, which will give Croydon residents more choices and control in how they live their lives.
What is the Community Micro-Enterprise Project?
The Community Micro-Enterprise Project will develop and grow a selection of micro-enterprises (small businesses with 8 or fewer FTE employees or volunteers) who are able to offer their practical support, wellbeing and care services to people in Croydon.
This is a free service where new and potential micro-enterprises will be provided with development advice, in both 1-2-1 and group settings, to ensure that their enterprise or group is safe, legal and sustainable.

Croydon Independence Pilot

Once the Community Micro-Enterprise is established, it will be the foundation of our pilot programme to offer older people, people with learning disabilities and people who are struggling with their mental health who are on lower incomes, support to live independently in their homes and lead meaningful and fulfilled lives.
More information to follow.
Want to find out more?
At this stage of Croydon Independence, we are currently focusing on the development of the micro-enterprises which will be able to best support those utilising the service.
In due course (date TBC), we will begin accepting referrals (self-referrals and those made by organisations/GPs) for individuals who would like to receive a Wellbeing Plan aimed at supporting them to continue to live independently in their own homes.
If you would like to stay informed on the progress of Croydon Independence, and when it will begin to accept referrals, please contact us on hello@croydonalmshouses.org.uk.
